The only par 3 under 200 yards at Quail Hollow on Thursday just gave up the first hole-in-one of the 2025 PGA Championship.
On the 184-yard par-3 fourth, 2022-23 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year Eric Cole’s approach hopped up and rolled in for his first career ace in a PGA Tour stroke play event. The 17-year professional gave a veteran celebration as he raised his arms and turned to his caddie for a high five.

The ace reversed a challenging start to Cole's front nine, his closing side on Thursday. He went bogey-double-bogey on Nos. 1 and 2 to fall to 2-over before leaving the fourth at even par. It’s Cole’s second career hole-in-one. His first came on the PGA Tour’s 2024 Zurich Classic, a team event.
Cole is in his third career start in the PGA Championship, with his best major finish coming in his PGA Championship debut in 2023, when he finished T15.
