Si Woo Kim had every reason to take off running. Friday, on the 252-yard par-3 sixth, Kim hit a low-flying hard-cut 5-wood that took two hops then rolled right into the heart of the cup. After hearing the roar of the crowd, Kim simultaneously sprinted off the tee while chucking his club high into the sky. After running for 30 yards, Kim turned and raised his arms to celebrate.

Once he got to the hole, Kim ensured the fan’s safety by dusting off the ball like it was aflame. It continues an on-fire round for Kim, who moved to six-under for his round and five-under for the championship, trailing the lead by three with three holes to go in his second round. He picked up nearly 2.3 strokes on the field, with the sixth playing as the fifth hardest hole this week and only giving up 15 birdies so far with the second round nearly finished.
The hole-in-one is Kim’s sixth career ace on the PGA Tour, and second in a major. He aced the 17th during the third round of last year’s U.S. Open. The four-time PGA Tour winner is contending for his first major title, with his best major finishing a T-13 in the 2020 PGA Championship.
